About this publication
The Executive Summary is an independent newsletter written and edited by Dan Ilett. It is published three times a week and read by over 1,000 chief executives. Editorial decisions are made solely by the editor; there are no investors, owners or third parties with editorial control.
Editorial standards
The Executive Summary publishes opinion, analysis and reporting on growth, AI strategy, board governance, enterprise sales, leadership and the wider economy. We aim to be useful to working CEOs and senior leaders. Every piece is written or commissioned by the editor and fact-checked before publication where it contains claims of fact.
Ethics policy
We separate opinion from reporting. Opinion is clearly the voice of the named author. Reporting cites its sources. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage. Sponsored content, when it appears, is clearly labelled as such. Where the editor or contributing writers have a financial or personal interest in a subject, that interest is disclosed at the top of the piece. We never publish content generated wholly by AI without a named human editor reviewing and signing off on it.
Corrections policy
If you spot a factual error in a piece, please email dan@theexecutivesummary.com. We correct material errors as quickly as possible and note the correction at the bottom of the affected piece with the date and what changed. See our full corrections log.
Ownership and funding
The Executive Summary is owned by Dan Ilett. Revenue comes from voluntary paid subscriptions, sponsored events and ad slots clearly labelled within editions. No outside investor has editorial control. The advisory practice Tollejo, also operated by Dan Ilett, is a separate business — clients of Tollejo do not influence editorial coverage.
Sources and attribution
We cite primary sources where possible — public filings, named interviews, on-record briefings. Where we use figures from third-party research, we name the research firm and link to the report. Quotes from interviews are not paraphrased without making that clear.
Author and contributor disclosure
The editor is Dan Ilett, a former Financial Times journalist who founded Greenbang and was founding editor of CoinDesk. Guest contributions are clearly bylined and the contributor's relevant experience is disclosed.
